The First Children's Embassy in the World Megjashi - Republic of Macedonia is celebrating its 19th birthday.
Tomorrow (Skopje, 29.04.2011) the First Children's Embassy in the World Megjashi - Republic of Macedonia is celebrating its 19th birthday. We would like to thank all of you who supported the work and activities of the First Children’s Embassy in the World in the past period. To all the volunteers that unselfishly helped our joint dedication for more righteous and better world for the children in Macedonia and in the world throughout these 19 years, to all the citizens who donated in our donation boxes to support our help services, to all the foundations and socially responsible business partners who supported us to sustain our program activities and to all the individuals and institutions who put themselves in function of respecting the rights of the child conveyed in the Convention for the rights of the child.

I began working in the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi as a volunteer during 2005 and 2006, when I run an Albanian language workshop, for children at the age of 7 to 12. It was then when I first realised how difficult it was to work with children, but how fulfilling that job was. Although the results weren’t what I wanted them to be, I was still happy I could pass at least a bit of my knowledge to the children who were part of this workshop.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be a volunteer here in the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi which was my own choice, and it was for the free SOS phone line for children and youth. From the very beginning they trusted me and I was assigned to responsible tasks, which is a very stimulating moment for a young, inexperienced pedagogue as myself, a recent graduate, who is ambitious and enthusiastic about learning and acquiring working skills and experience, yet is still inexperienced in her work.

CONDUCTED RESEARCH ON CONFIDENCE IN THE CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS
The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi in the report for the research “The confidence in Macedonia” which is consider to “The Confidence in the Civil Society” and “The familiarity with the civil organizations and the opinions for them”, is at the first place in terms of the confidence in civic organizations. 53.6 % of the citizens have positive opinion for the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi where the relations between the positive and negative thinking are 20.3 to 1.

Isolation Is Not Solution For Violent Students
Psychologists and pedagogues think that students with problematic behavior should not be isolated in special schools, but should work together with psychologists and pedagogues.

The third suspect was arrested for the murder in the high school “ГУЦ”
Skopje, 13.4.2011 David S. from Skopje, older brother of DS (16), suspect for murder of Muhamed Ali Jasari, was arrested for complicity. Both brothers were hiding from the police, but, accompanied by their father, surrendered to the police last Monday. From the Ministry of Interior they do not give information about any charges against the father.

Children’s rights activists urge authorities to increase safety measures at schools after three violent incidents in one week shock the public.
The last case happened on Thursday, in the “Kole Nedelkovski” high school in Veles when a 17-year-old student was stabbed by a pupil from another school.

Reaction for recent cases of violence at schools
Having in mind the recent cases of violence in several schools in last few months and the most recent one, which ended tragically with death of Muhamed Ali Jasari, the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi expresses revolt and concern because of the lack of security and safety of children in schools. Also we express our deep condolences on the death of Muhamed Ali Jasari.

Inefficient working of the Centers for Social Welfare in a case of a 9-year-old child.
The First Children's Embassy in the World Megjashi has many times so far observed malfunction in the work of the Centers for Social Welfare and violation of children’s rights. The last case, which was reported on the SOS helpline for children and youth at the Children's Embassy Megjasi, again points out the lack of performance, the rigidity and the irresponsibility of the Centers for Social Welfare when acting for the best interest of the children.

Report for the Visit of Ljubanci
On May 12, 2011, five members of the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi visited the shelter center in Ljubanci. This center is settled 20 km away from Skopje, on lower parts of Skopska Crna Gora Mountain.

Capacity building of the non governmental sector in the monitoring of the rights of the child
The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi as a coordinator of the Macedonian National Coalition of civil organizations for the protection of the rights of the child from January 2011 it will start with the implementation of the project “Capacity building of the non governmental sector in the monitoring of the rights of the child.” 

Training about monitoring CRC
During the month of November 2010 at the Hotel Alpina in Mavrovo a training was held to monitor children’s rights as part of the project “Capacity Building of the NGOs in monitoring children’s rights.” Representatives of the Macedonian National Coalition for the Rights of the Child (informal) whose coordinator is the First Children’s Embassy in the World. The participants at this training were the representatives of the Embassy Megjashi Jana Grozdanovska coordinator of the SOS helpline for children and young and Katerina Koneska who is the program manager. Also active participation was taken by the representatives from the following organizations of the Macedonian Coalition on the Rights of the Child:

Peace education as an integral part of the formal educational system
In April 2011, the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi started the implementation of its Peace Education Programme with its longstanding German partner, the non-governmental organisation Kurve Wustrow. The aim of the project is to promote nonviolence and peace as the core values for social interaction and to foster the integration of peace education into the formal educational system of the Republic of Macedonia.

Gothenburg , 22 March 2011. The Deportation of the two children, five and eight years old respectively, from Lund, Sweden, to Macedonia is delayed until the next decision, according to the decision of the Swedish Migration Board, according to the Swedish TV station CBT. 

First Children's Embassy in the World for Inclusion of All Children in Education Process
Wed, 04/05/2011 - 12:52pm Last Monday, May 2, the First Children's Embassy in the World Megjashii marked the start of the Macedonian segment of the global action to raise public awareness about the need to cover all children with obligatory education. This year’s action topic is “Education for Women and Girls”, with official motto “It’s a right; Realize that Right: Education for Women and Girls Now!” and sub-slogan “Yes, she can”.During the one week campaign (it concludes on May 9, 2011), a number of events under the title “The Big Story" will be held, and one class in all schools should be dedicated to the main topic of the campaign.

Global action for including the young in the educational process
Even with mandatory elementary and secondary education, there is a large number of young children who are outside of school desks, and analysis show that 200.000 people haven’t finished elementary education, according to “Megjashi”.

This year Macedonia took participation in the Global campaign for education within which is implemented the global week of action which lasted from 2nd to 8th May 2011, with the theme: “Education for women and girls now!” Invitations were sent to all 85 municipalities in Macedonia and 300 schools to participate along with guidelines and inspirational letters. 

Pedophile Used Facebook to Lure a Child for Sexual Abuse
AT, 25, from Strumica used the social network Facebook aiming to meet 10 years old child and when they agreed to meet he lured him to go somewhere else in order to abuse him sexually. The case was reported to the police by child’s mother.

Incest under the pretext of revenge
The man from Gostivar M.I. (42) who is behind will await the results of the investigation which will show whether the fellow citizens rightfully call him “Gostivar’s Fricl” or if he is right when he claims that the whole story that he sexually abused his minor daughter is falsely set up by his second wife, who wants to take revenge on him because he told her to leave their home. After an initial arrest of 48 hours, the investigative judge from the district court in Gostivar, by request from the prosecution, yesterday gave M.I. a 30 day arrest behind bars. The jail sell was determined after GBP Tetovo two days ago brought in criminal charges for incest against him, three days after the case was known to the public. 

Nobody learns how to recognize pedophiles
Institutions pay insufficient attention in further education for teachers and parents to recognize specific signs when a child is a victim of sexual abuse. They should be able to recognize the reactions of children victims when there are manifested frequent physical complaints, urinary infections, depression, isolation, fear, silence and taenje.

Children – phantoms
More than thousand Roma communities haven’t registered their children in the registry of births. Now, the children don’t have health insurance, neither go to school. Lawfully, they don’t exist.

CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER
Researches show that trafficking with juveniles grows in last two years. Police confirms existence of children trafficking, while there is growth due to sexual exploitation of youths.

When child give birth
The juvenile pregnancy rate of young girls who became mothers or made abortion is big. There is no sexual education at schools, while youth rarely use contraception or do not use it at all. What happens when children born children?

A Hell Night for a Child
The most recent report by First Children’s Embassy Megjashi showed off that children still remain silent and suffer violence, and only a small percent of them dare to report sexual abuse, incest and pedophilia. There is no shelter for children who report so.“Boy raped in monastery,” “Mother enabled raping of her daughter…” shocking headlines from Macedonian media. But, everything ends with an article in police bulletin or one minute article on TV news.

The Centres for Social Work should take into account the child’s right of opinion during a divorce proceedings, in the matters such as which parent he or she wants to live with and who they have established a stable emotional relation with, recommend from the National Coalition for Children’s Rights.

There is no system for protection for the children who are victim
There is no system for protection for the children who are victims of abuse. There are no real and durable solutions for protection of children victims of family abuse. 

Court labyrinths cause inconvenience among the children.
For children faced with judicial authorities is a hard and traumatic experience. They don’t understand the procedures that take place in front of the police or the court. This is the reason why more and more children keep quiet about the abuse that they experience, warns the First Children's Embassy in the world “Megjashi”.
