Capacity building of the non governmental sector in the monitoring of the rights of the childThe First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi as a coordinator of the Macedonian National Coalition of civil organizations for the protection of the rights of the child from January 2011 it will start with the implementation of the project “Capacity building of the non governmental sector in the monitoring of the rights of the child.” 
 
The project is suspected to last three years in the period of January 2011 to 2013.

The financial and technical support for the coordinating of the coalition in the years 2011, 2012, and 2013, preparation and presentation of the reports is going to be assured by UNICEF.

This project has the task to strengthen the capacity for the different relevant players; to upgrade the knowledge and skills of the citizen organizations with the goal to use them and work appropriately associated with planning, budgeting, and management activities like monitoring child rights at a national level.

Within this project two trainings are organized, one in November 2010, and the second training was organized within the month of April 2011 in Ohrid. Macedonian representatives from the national coalition were present at both trainings for the rights of the child (informal) whose coordinator is The First Children’ Embassy in the World Megjashi. Also the Coalition Now is present at these trainings.

During the month of May 2011, 13 of the members of the Macedonian coalition for the rights of the child signed the Memorandum for a partnership whose aim is the continuation for the partnership between the citizen organizations for the meeting of the objectives and tasks because of which the Informal Macedonian national coordination for the citizen organizations for the protection of the right of the child was established. Within this project “Building of the capacity of the non governmental sector in the monitoring of children’s rights”, this memorandum will allow for the coordination and alignment between the agreed sides, therefore achieving the ultimate goals of the project.

Main goal of the initiative is to bring on improvement for the situation of the child and better enforcement of CRC through systematic monitoring and reporting of the situation with the kids, including the following and progress in the implementation for conducting observations of the committee for the right of the child by the United Nations by authorities. This goal would be achieved by meeting the following goals and objectives.

1.Monitoring and implementation of the Convention for the Rights of the Children in Republic of Macedonia

2.Annual reports for the situation with the rights of the children. The reports will be prepared by Macedonian National Coalition for the Rights of the Child in order to inform the committee in Geneva and relevant ministries for the key points about the situation of the children in Republic of Macedonia. Macedonian National Coalition of Civic Organizations for Child’s Rights Protection will ask from the National Commission for Children’s Rights within the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and relevant ministries information for the measures they take and their opinions about the process of implementation of the Convention in Republic of Macedonia

3.The data and the reports prepared by members of National Coalition would be used for planning of programs for development, advocacy and solving of the existing issues in order to protect the children’s rights

4.Advocacy, lobbying for children’s rights and reacting anytime when any child’s right is violated or contested.

The final outcome should be improvement of the situation with the children’s rights and better implementation of the Convention, Committee’s recommendations and monitoring of the National Commission for children’s rights within the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, ministries and relevant authorities of the implementation of the recommendations of the Committee for the Rights of the Child of United Nations.
