The First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi reacts to the decision to revoke the parental rights of Kuleski family
The First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi repeatedly has been asking the Social Work Centres to first monitor the parental right, and then if it is determined that there is improper performance of the parental right to revoke the same, ie to start proceedings for revocation.

Daily Centre for children not attending school
The daily care centre for children not attending school continues to function within the First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi with support from the business sector, citizens and volunteers. 

The baby of the juvenile refugee from Gorno Jabolchishta died
The baby of the 15 years old Samir Zejenelova who lives in Veles, Gorna Jabolchishta, in an outside marital union visited Channel 5, 3 month ago. The three days old newborn baby started to suffocate in the middle of the night. The baby died on the way to hospital. It is unclear whether the baby was healthy when it was released from the Veles hospital where Zejnelova gave a birth. Further details were to be announced for the following day. The body of the baby was given for autopsy. According to initial results - there were no signs of violence. However, the forensic findings are still pending for the final results.

Children held hostages by parental stubbornness
The National Coalition for the Rights of the Child, recommends that The Centres for Social Work in the divorcee procedure should take into account the rights of the child and which parent the child wants to live with as well as with whom the child has established a deep emotional relationship.

Children disappear when care disappears
Following the latest cases of missing children and the lack of accurate information from the competent organisations, citizens and parents are much more concerned about the safety of their children.

The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi, on Thursday, 21st of January 2010, at 10:30 am, in the facilities of the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi, held a press conference to present the Children’s Alternative report for the situation with the children’s rights in the Republic of Macedonia, prepared by the children.

Children's rights are not respected
Skopje, January 21 (MIA) - One fifth of children in Macedonia are exposed to domestic violence, and in 2-3 per cent of them it happens every day. Half of the children claimed that there is violence in the schools. Two thirds of them reported that there is violence on the street, and one fifth of them said it happens every day. Three quarters of children do not know their rights, and a third of them claimed that professors or teachers do not respect their rights.

Vaska Bojadzi and  Elena Dimitrievska were selected by the children themselves to be representatives of the Coalition and the Children's alternative report in front  of the members of the Committee on the Rights of Children in Geneva.

Last year studies show raised number of applications for sexual abuse of children by parents or close relatives.

European Safer Internet Day
On February 10, 2010 forum was held for the safety of the children on internet in the organisation of Microsoft in Macedonia. The aim was to attract the attention of the wider public for the importance of the child’s safety online and to raise awareness about the role of the teachers, the parents and the community related to this subject.

First National Child Conference
The main topics of the conference were the social discrimination, the right to education and the fight for the children rights.

Revocation of the parental right should be done proactively, not when serious injuries and consequences occurred upon children. The care, education and raising of the children is primarily the responsibility of the parents, but if there is neglect of care as a result of providing a basic standard living conditions, the state should take appropriate measures.

The recommendations of the National Alliance for the rights of the child have been taken into consideration by the National Commission for the Rights of the Child in the Government of the Republic of Macedonia
In the period from the 23rd of December 2008 to 1st of December 2009, the Alternative reports were being prepared by the National Alliance for Children’s rights (Coalition consisted of 21 non-governmental organizations and 2 non-governmental coalitions). Four Alternative reports were made:

Campaign under the slogan “You should not be silent about the violence”
The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi is conducting a campaign under the slogan “You should not be silent about the violence”. The main goal is to inform the public about the violence issues that the children in Macedonia are facing. It is necessary to talk about the violence and abuse against children. They can cause serious and long lasting psychological harm to children.

Children's Embassy Megjashi was invited by the Broadcasting Council to a consultative meeting for the public campaign against drug abuse ‘‘Life is my movie’’ supported by the Government
Angelina Chalakoska, psychologist and coordinator of the SOS free phone line for children and youth 0800 1 2222, representing the First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi attended the consultative meeting with representatives of several organizations organized by the Broadcasting Council regarding the public campaign against drug abuse "Life is my movie’’ supported by the Government. 

Meeting with the Minister Mustafa Necdet, the Children’s Embassy Megjashi and UNICEF
On 27/01/2010 (Wednesday) the Minister without portfolio Mustafa Necdet - National Coordinator of the Decade of Roma Inclusion and the Strategy for Roma met with the head of UNICEF office Sheldon Yett and Katerina Konevska from the Children’s Embassy Megjashi. 

The Domination of Physical punishment in the schools
“Teachers even today still use a wooden stick to administer punishment and they are kicking children in order to educate them” This is stated in the alternative report on children's rights in the country and presented by the First Children's Embassy in the world Megjasi.

The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi organized the First National Children’s Conference for Child Participation on the 16th of March 2010, Tuesday, at the Youth Cultural Center, Cinema “Frosina”. The conference was a part of the project Building a Culture of Child Participation, financed by the European Union, and co-financed by UNICEF.

Activities of the Megjashi Embassy over the New Year’s and Christmas holidays
The First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi at their premises organized a party with gifts for children in the presence of Santa Claus.

Presentation of the Alternative reports for the state of children's rights in Macedonia in front of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva on February the 3rd
In the period from the 1st to 4th February 2010, Delegation of the National coalition for the rights of the children represented by Keti Jandrijeska Jovanova - Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Macedonia, Catherine Koneska – The First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi, Svetlana Mulkueen - First Children's Embassy in the word Megjashi, Vaska Bojdzi - child representative from the organization Gate from Strumica and Elena Dimitrievska - child representative from the organization Loja from Tetovo, were in Geneva, Switzerland, to present the alternative report for the children's rights in Macedonia to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Children.

‘’Project to support human rights’’
The First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi as one of the founding members of the Coalition "All for fair trial" along with the Office of the coalition began to realize the "Project to support human rights." 

Moneyboxes Newsletter
In the period from January to March the total donations from citizens into Embassy donation moneyboxes which were place throughout Macedonia was 123,220.00 denars.

Reaction to the Association of Journalists of the Republic of Macedonia for the violation of the children’s privacy through articles published in printed media
In mid February 2010, at the premises of the First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi, concerned parent addressed us. From the interview conducted with the parent we found out that a text was published in the daily newspaper ‘’Shpic’’ where describing an event under the section daily news, described and discussed are details of the infant son of the plaintive and thus his right to privacy has been breached.

Report on the work of SOS for Children and Youth for the period from January to March 2010
The SOS helpline for children and youth 0800 1 2222 at the First Children's Embassy in the world Megjashi actively worked in the first quarter of 2010. In period from January to March were registered around 70 reports by the citizens.

Free legal service - Complaints to the Ombudsman, centres for social work, police stations and other institutions
In the period from 01/01/2010 to 31/03/2010 the free legal service had several cases, some were forwarded to the appropriate authorities and some were treated accordingly. Most of the cases on which the legal service was acting upon were cases reported on the SOS phone line and cases where the citizens on their own initiative reported them at the premises of the Children’s Embassy. Also, the media was used as a source of information for some cases of violation of children's rights.

Youth Cultural Centre - Bitola (Macedonian Volunteers Centre) on the occasion of December 5th International volunteer’s day, opened a public call for volunteer awards for 2009. The call was addressed to all civil societies to propose candidates for gold, silver and a bronze awards for volunteer engagement during 2009.


Global campaign for including all children in education - "One goal: Education for all"

The First Children’s Embassy in the world - Megjashi this year as well joined the Global campaign for including all children in education. In more than 100 countries throughout the world, famous global football stars are joined with millions of children with a goal everyone to have a possibility to go to school and to study. Besides the entertaining event we had on this very important issue, we hope to make a world record with the biggest held simultaneous class.
