Presentation of the Alternative reports for the situation with the children’s rights in the Republic of Macedonia prepared by Macedonian National Alliance for Children's Rights
The National Alliance for Children's Rights , coordinated by the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi, on Thursday, 17th of December 2009, at 10:30 am, in the facilities of the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi, held a press conference to present the Alternative reports for the situation with the children’s rights in the Republic of Macedonia.

29 years old Suzana Dzhanovik from Dracevo near Skopje is suspected that yesterday beat to death her 7 years old son Selmir. The investigation shows that the child was hit with a hard object on the head and had bruises over the whole body.

The last case of beating a child that ended with death confirms our concerns and numerous reactions for more effective action by the Centers for social work, to have insight into dysfunctional families and families at risk, to supervise the exercise of the parental right, to take measures of temporary custody until the relations in the family can ensure children's safety and protection - that is a priority in the parental responsibility.

The SOS phone line for children and youth 0800 1 2222 by the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi made 16 years of its existence in 2009. During those 16 years, 17 784 reports were registered on different types of problems that the children are facing daily.

National SOS line for children and youth victims of sexual abuse and paedophilia
Within the anticipated activities of the Action Plan on preventing and dealing with sexual abuse of children and paedophilia 2009-2012, adopted on 30 session of the Government of Republic of Macedonia on 18.11.2008, the First children's embassy in the world Megjashi on 07/07/2009 got the decision for the implementation of the Project opening of the National SOS line for children and young victims of sexual abuse and paedophilia.

Each year, the first week of October is dedicated to children under the motto Children’s Week. Children's Embassy Megjashi, as an organization whose main mission are the rights and protection of children, again this year organized activities to mark Children's Week (October 5th-11th, 2009).

The First Children`s Embassy in the World as part of the project Childhood without abuse – toward better system for child protection in Eastern Europe in November organized a supervision on the topic - Responsible parenting.

Selection of children representatives for Geneva
During the third training for children in Ohrid, it was agreed that the children will submit a letter of motivation-letter of interest for participation of children representatives in Geneva.

Third training for civil society organizations participating in the preparation of shadow reports on children’s rights
In the period from September 29th to October 2nd, 2009, in Hotel Alpina in Mavrovo, organized was the third training in the area of children's rights and monitoring of children's rights entitled

Workshops for preparation of alternative reports on the Convention on Children’s Rights, Optional Protocol on children involved in armed conflicts and the Optional Protocol on children’s trafficking, child prostitution and child pornography
1. On October 24th, 2009, as a follow-up activity to the training on the rights of children in institutions, the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi organized a workshop in the hotel “Car Samuil” in Banja Bansko. The whole professional team of the Children's Embassy attended the workshop, as well as children representing the following organizations (a total of 22 participants): Center for Civic Initiatives-Prilep, Porta-Strumica, Council for Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency-Kavadarci, HU Mother from Kumanovo, Antiko- Kicevo, Loja - Tetovo.

Second training for civil society organizations participating in the preparation of the Shadow Report on Children’s Rights
In the period between July 28th to 30th, 2009 in the Info Center of the European Union in Skopje, organized was the second training in the area of children's rights and monitoring of children's rights entitled Process of preparation of the Shadow Report and reporting to the bodies of the United Nations, targeting civil society organizations that are part of the National Coalition of civil society organizations for protection of children’s rights and that participate in the preparation of the Shadow Report towards the Convention on Children’s Rights of the UN.

Daily Center for children who do not attend to school
As a remainder ... The Daily Center for children who do not go to school functions within the Children's Embassy since June 2007. In 2007, the Daily Center was only for six months financially supported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Republic of Macedonia, and from 2008 until now it operates with support from the business sector and citizens.

Promotion of the documentary "Broken Line"
On November 12, 2009 in the Journalists' Club in Skopje was promoted Nenad Vukosavljevik’s documentary movie "Broken Line", produced by the Center for Nonviolent Action Belgrade - Sarajevo, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development - Germany, in partnership with the First Children's Embassy in the World Megjashi and Peace Action - Prilep.

Postcards
It has been the fifth year that the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi, with great help from the children members of the artistic workshop, prepared seasonal cards.

Money-boxes information
In the period from June to December, through the moneyboxes for donations by citizens that the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi placed throughout Macedonia, citizens donated total of 175,735 denars.
