Workshops for preparation of alternative reports on the Convention on Children’s Rights, Optional Protocol on children involved in armed conflicts and the Optional Protocol on children’s trafficking, child prostitution and child pornography 1. On October 24th, 2009, as a follow-up activity to the training on the rights of children in institutions, the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi organized a workshop in the hotel “Car Samuil” in Banja Bansko. The whole professional team of the Children's Embassy attended the workshop, as well as children representing the following organizations (a total of 22 participants): Center for Civic Initiatives-Prilep, Porta-Strumica, Council for Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency-Kavadarci, HU Mother from Kumanovo, Antiko- Kicevo, Loja - Tetovo.

The purpose of this workshop was the preparation of alternative reports on the Convention on Children’s Rights, Optional Protocol on children involved in armed conflicts and the Optional Protocol on the children’s trafficking, child prostitution and child pornography.

Children participating in this workshop worked on preparation of their children’s report on the Convention on Children’s Rights that should be sent and presented to the Committee on Children’s Rights in Geneva.

2. On October 30th, 2009, in the EU Info Center in Skopje, organized was a one-day workshop for the members of the Coalition, aimed at preparation of the Alternative reports. The program was divided into 2 units - workshops. The first part of the workshop was facilitated by Silva Peshic, in which she more closely briefed participants about the process of reporting to the Committee on Children’s Rights, through presentation of a documentary. The second part of the workshop was devoted to the elaboration of the first working draft of the Alternative Reports on the Convention on Children’s Rights and the two optional protocols by the members of the National Coalition for children’s rights.

At the end of the workshop was agreed the follow-up plan for collaboration with the members of the Coalition for finalization of the Alternative Reports.

3. On November 11th, 2009, in the hotel “Sredno Vodno” in Skopje, held was a one-day workshop for preparation of the shadow reports, attended by the members of the Coalition. Moderator of the workshop was Professor Mirjana Najcevska, PhD, an expert in human rights. The workshop was intended to finalize the working versions of the Alternative Reports. The reports were reviewed by the members of the Coalition and adopted were recommendations, comments and edits to them, through group work and plenary discussions.

This workshop also included children, who worked on preparing their children’s shadow report, separately from the adults.

4. Workshops on preparing children’s report were also organized on November 13th and 19th. On November 13th, 12 children took part, while on November 19th, 13 children were involved. The workshops were organized in the facilities of the Children's Embassy Megjashi. The children, the members representatives of their cities and the civil society organizations reviewed the Report and adopted recommendations, comments and amendments to the text.

5. On November 17th, in the Children's Embassy, organized was a workshop for preparation of children's report, including children from Skopje, where they worked on making the recommendations, which were reviewed at the next workshop (November 19th) by the children from other towns.
