Today is International Day of Children –

Today is celebrated the International Day of Children - June 1st. A decision declaring this day as a special day was made by UNICEF in 1925 the World Conference on welfare of children held in Geneva, Switzerland, and represents a new beginning in improving the opportunities for children.

Children's rights in Macedonia are performed under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Law Regulative in Macedonia.


Recent studies of the First Children's Embassy in the World Megjasi Macedonia show that 70% of children in our country do not know any of their rights. Significantly small number of children seeking help from school psychologists and teachers, and for their rights they learn when at school.

Undeclared and often without penalty remains the child labor abuse when parents make their children work. Public prosecutor requires children from the street to enter into a separate category of protection and to open special centers where children addicted to drugs are treated and also trafficking children.



Each year more than 1000 children in Macedonia are victims of sexual attacks, mostly from their parents, relatives, friends or neighbors. Statistics show that 18,000 children under the age of 18 do not attend school. About 2000 children in the street and they are often victims of abuse. Excluded from the educational process, they are often victims of sexual abuse of pedophilia, children trafficking and etc…
