Father rapes daughter for 2 yearsMuhamed A. (37) from Skopje, raped his daughter for 2 years, after he divorced his wife. The raped girl could not take the torture anymore and reported him to her mother S.A. which filed a complaint with the police immediately.
The thirty-seven year old Muhamed lived in Madzari with his daughter, during the whole time of the rapes. Before that, he was married with the one year older S.A. with whom he had a daughter. After they decided to divorce, the daughter went to live with her father which sexually abused her for the next two years. –The day before yesterday the police filed a complaint against the father for incestual rape, who by the statement his wife gave, raped his own daughter, informs the spokesman for the Police.
The First Children’s Embassy “Megjashi” fully convicts the father’s conduct.
-This is an example for a long time of keeping quiet under violence, which this girl has been taking for 2 years. The rapist threatens the victim-the child more than often, so it will not report the crime. Incestual rape is the most horrible thing that can happen to a child which instead of getting support and protection from their closest family, get violated and raped instead, states Dragi Zmijanac, Executive Director of “Megjashi”.
In the Children’s Embassy efforts are being pushed for establishing a shelter for this type of victims, where they would be attended to and hidden in safety.
-Until the apprehension of the criminal by the police, the child has to be taken away from the home in order to avoid further violence and trauma; therefore it would have to be safe in the shelter. The Center for Social works then would have to decide whether or not the child will be given to the other parent, or to a guardian or put into an appropriate institution, explains Zmijanac. According to him, the motion for a new shelter has been approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and a budget is supposed to be approved. –The Center for Social works, has to have a bigger insight into dysfunctional families, so it could in such cases, take away the parental right before time and thus prevent irresponsible parents or those that abuse their children from doing so.
