The activities we have realized during Global Action Week-Global Campaign for Education 2009

- We have realized training from 10 to12 April with 25 children from 7 different cities from Macedonia where the children were prepared for participation in the Global Action Week trough advocacy and lobbing in their main cities. In all 7 cities was realized Marches on the 22 April when the central event took place in Skopje.

-  We have translated all stories from The Big Read in Macedonian and several in Albanian and we have collected stories from our local prominent citizens. We have uploaded the stories in Macedonian, Albanian and in English on our web site www.childrensembassy.org.mk  where everyone interested can find them and read them.

- In almost all schools around Macedonia we have distributed information material for the The Big Read and printed materials (brochures, leaflets and posters). We have printed 500 posters, 2.000 leaflets and 3000 badges in Macedonian and Albanian with different messages about the important of education. 

- In all municipalities (120) all around Macedonia we have distributed information material for The Big Read and in some of them printed materials (brochures, leaflets and posters).

- Our web-site is up-dated on daily basis and all information’s regarding the GLOBAL ACTION WEEK could be found there. We have also put on our web site the sign-up link for THE BIG READ where people from Macedonia can also add their names to the petition for education, and also we sent the same link at many different e-mail addresses (NGOs, medias) 



- All media (TV, Radio and Print) in Macedonia were informed about the Global Action Week in Macedonia and in the World.

- The central event of the day of THE BIG READ took place on the 22 April at 12 p.m. at the Main Square in the capital city of Skopje, and also on public places in other cities in Macedonia:



-  over 100 children from the schools from Skopje and from 6 different cities in Macedonia (Prilep, Kumanovo, Tetovo, Kavadarci, Kucevo and Strumica), teachers, parents, local public figures and many others, took part in the March as a sign of solidarity with every child in the world that does not go to school. They marched with banners with the messages such as: “I have the right of education”, “I have the right to go to school”, “We want to read”, “Literacy for all”, and so on.

- On the Main Square there was a book in which everyone was able to put its name and sign up for the goal: literacy for all.



- at 13:30 p.m. 50 children  have visited the Parliament Commission of Education and Science and had a meeting with M-r Safet Neziri, the President of the Parliament Commission of Education and Science.



- at 15 p.m. children had a meeting with the Minister for education of Republic of Macedonia, M-r Pero Stojanovski. During the visits the children had the chance to talk to the persons which are the decision and policy makers in the country regarding the issues of education.



- The representatives, M-r Pero Stojanovski and M-r Safet Neziri  was also asked to sign the Guarantee with which they will obligate to work for the best interest of children and to provide more quality education which will include every child in the country.             - In many major cities in Macedonia were realized activities that supported the central event in Skopje with Marches and Big Read action, on 22 April:

            - Kichevo – on 21 April 10 children have visited the Bureau for Development of the Education where were present the State Counsellor, the State Inspector, and the Regional Inspector of the Bureau for Development of the Education. The representatives signed the Guarantee with which they are obligate to work for the best interest of children and to provide more quality education which will include every child in the country.

            - Prilep – on 21 April 12 children have visited Major of city of Prilep He signed the Guarantee with which he is obligate to work for the best interest of children and to provide more quality education which will include every child in the country.

            - Vinica – on 23 and 24 April the Major of the city have visited all primary school in the city. He also signed the Guarantee.

            - Strumica – on 22 April at the Main Square was realized a March with banners and stories was read from the Big Book. The main public representatives were present (the Major of the city, the Public persecutor, the Ombudsman, Counsellor of the Municipality of Strumica. They were asked to sign the Guarantee. On the same day in all schools in Struimica the BIG READ was realized.

            - Kumanovo – on 22 April 15 children have visited the Major of city of Kumanovo.

            - Milino (village in the municipality od Lozovo) - on 22 April was realized a March with banners and literature contest.

            - Kavadarci – on 22 April in all primary schools was realized the BIG READ.
